## Filing: What you file and where

A business that trades food supplements in the Netherlands registers with the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA). You do it online in MijnNVWA.

You need a Chamber of Commerce (KVK) registration and eHerkenning first. Registration is free. Each location is registered and confirmed every year.

There is no product notification. You do not send each supplement to an authority before launch.

If your business is based in another country, it usually registers there, and your importer or distributor in the Netherlands registers with the NVWA.

## Label: Your label

The label information is in Dutch, and other languages can be added. The business whose name is on the pack is responsible for what it says. A brand based outside the EU needs an EU importer.

Powders sold as ordinary food, such as a protein powder, follow the general food label rules. Products sold as food supplements also need the items below.

- The word "voedingssupplement"
- The names of the nutrients or substances in the product
- The recommended daily portion
- A warning not to exceed the recommended daily portion
- A statement that food supplements are not a substitute for a varied diet
- A statement to keep the product out of reach of young children
- The amount of each nutrient per daily portion, and % of the reference intake for vitamins and minerals

## Our part: What we do

Your products are made by specialist producers. We draft the Dutch label to the rules of your market and send you a mock-up.

You check it and complete your NVWA registration. Nothing goes to print until you approve the label.

## Timing: Timing

Register with the KVK, then with the NVWA, before your first sale. The NVWA confirms your registration.

Label drafting can run in parallel, so the registration does not hold up production.

## How it works: Five steps to your own product.

1. Send your logo and website. Tell us the format and roughly how much you want. Your logo and your website are the brief.
2. See it on the real pack. We send a mock-up of your label on the real pack, so you see the product before anything is made.
3. Samples, then your order. You check samples first. When you are happy with them, you place your order.
4. Pay upfront. Our ready drink and stock formats are paid upfront by bank transfer.
5. We label, pack and ship. We label, pack and ship your products under your brand.

## What we need from you

- Your logo, as a vector file if you have one.
- Your website or social page, so the label matches your brand.
- The format and flavour you have in mind.
- The quantity you want to start with.
- The countries where you will sell.

## Questions

### Do I notify each supplement in the Netherlands?

No. The NVWA states there is no notification duty for supplements in the Netherlands. The business registers once with the NVWA.

### Does an online shop need to register?

Yes. Businesses selling food online to consumers, including food supplements, register with the NVWA.

### I registered before 10 March 2026. Is that still valid?

The NVWA asks businesses registered before that date to register again in MijnNVWA.

### Who is responsible for the label?

The business whose name the product is sold under. If that business is outside the EU, the importer is responsible.

### Does it cost anything?

NVWA registration is free. eHerkenning is bought from a provider and has a cost.
